For the past two-and-a-half months I have been away from circus due to injury, illness, and holidays. I’ve mostly spent the time wishing I were back at circus, coding, and watching a lot of streaming media.
Last week marked return. I was a bit nervous as I assumed I would have forgotten the various tricks and routines I’ve learned over the past five years, and lost my strength. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that I still got it!
Tuesday’s trapeze class was the first time, perhaps since my very first class, that I left Esh grinning! My body was (and still is) in a lot of pain, but I kicked butt. Beats? Easy. Pullover-to-angel? Okay. Heel hang? Owww!..but okay. Toe hang? More oww…but still doable. I left energized and happy.
Friday’s straps class will probably be the only time I leave straps class smiling. (Straps friggin’ hurts—then and now!) I remembered my wraps. I remembered—and even improved upon—nearly all of the conditioning routine. I even managed to learn a new thing. Neither myself nor my instructor have a name for it; but, it looks cool and I only crushed my testicles three times learning it!
